Meet the Doctor
Dr. Katherine Volatile, MD
Dr. Volatile attended Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts, where she earned her BA in Psychology. After college, she became a Research Associate in Pediatric Neurology at Yale University. Upon completing her work there, she attended the Emory University School of Medicine where she obtained her MD degree. She worked for one year at Emory’s Clinical Research Facility, a division of the National Institutes of Health. Subsequently, she completed an internship in Internal Medicine at Emory before continuing with her 3-year Ophthalmology Residency program at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center. During her residency, she worked at the Retinal Vascular Center at the prestigious Johns Hopkins Hospital. Dr. Volatile has been an ophthalmologist since 1986. She worked in private practice in Maryland from 1986-2002. In 2002, she and her children moved to Asheville. Since moving to the area, she has enjoyed practicing ophthalmology in Asheville, Hendersonville, and Brevard.
Dr. Volatile’s interest in Facial Aesthetic Medicine began as she trained to inject Botox to treat facial spasms in the 1990s. At that time, physicians using therapeutic Botox to relax facial spasms noted that fine lines and wrinkles in the treated areas decreased. Botox was FDA-approved for cosmetic use in 2002.
Dr. Volatile began her training to perform cosmetic Botox injections in 2003. Since that time, she has attended courses at the Aesthetics Institute in Atlanta and Charlotte, and has obtained certification to perform the ArcDerma and Instatox techniques–patented injection techniques taught by the technique’s creator, Leslie Fletcher; of Injectability Institute. In January of 2017, Dr. Volatile completed The Aesthetics Blueprint Course taught by well-known Canadian injectors, Dr. Kent Remington and Dr. Arthur Swift.
Dr. Volatile enjoys consulting with new patients, and partnering with existing patients to help them achieve their individual treatment goals. She truly believes that every face is beautiful and works to enhance the patient’s natural beauty within the framework of their expectations, goals, and budgets.
Dr. Volatile has grown to love her Medical Aesthetic Practice. Her passion for this work is palpable, and we at Bella Visage know that you will love working with Dr. Volatile.
